How do computers age?
|
There are just a few moving parts in a computer: fan(s) and Hard disk(s). Take care of them and your PC will give years of service; expect 6 and more years. Computers that browse the internet, write emails, calculate spreadsheets, or run accounting programs will always do those things, ... as long as it runs. You don’t need a new computer to run the same old programs – you do need to maintain your computer so it continues to run! And really, what’s important about your PC? It's how they’re setup! The programs you need are installed, it connects to your network, it prints to your printer, the desktop is familiar, and maybe most important it has your documents, … company-important documents! It has emails, pictures, accounting files, and correspondence.

Protect your PC:
- Several times a year clean out the dust & grim; prevent it from getting too hot.
- When your computer makes a noise, Fix It! It’s one of the fans. As long as it’s making noise it still working but, not for long. When the noise stops, the fan has stopped (it didn’t fix itself), and soon your computer will stop. Your data? We’ll do our best to get it back.
- Defrag your hard disk. This does two things:
1) Organizes data for easier and faster access.
2) Exercise your hard disk. Sometimes disk problems are discovered before they become critical.
- Backup! Oh yea, Backup! You don’t need a backup, … until you need a backup! And when you need a backup it’s incredibly painful if you don’t have one.
- Online Backups - we recommend them because:
1) They’re encrypted for security.
2) They’re stored off site. Meaning if there is a fire or serious destruction you can restore to another computer in another location.
3) They're automatic! Set to start during off hours or when the computer is not busy.
4) The service we offer can restore versions of individual files up to 30 days old.
